My Therapy Practice

Are you looking for a supportive, confidential, safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings with a professional, experienced, and qualified counsellor?

My name is Fadia Courts, and I am passionate about helping people work through their challenges and achieve meaningful and positive changes in their lives.

I aim to support you in a compassionate and caring way. My therapeutic approach provides a nonjudgmental, empathetic, and reflective environment where you can safely explore your feelings and express yourself. Within a confidential, and welcoming atmosphere, I aim to provide you with the necessary help and support to overcome a broad range of issues and improve your mental, emotional, and psychological health, well-being and consequently, the quality of your life. I offer my experience in helping people address areas such as trauma, anxiety, depression, bereavement, PTSD, low self-esteem/confidence, substance dependency, identity issues, eating disorders, health, work-related dilemmas, neurodiversity, domestic and sexual abuse.

I am experienced in working with neurodiverse individuals with additional and special educational needs. Whether you have physical disabilities or psychological difficulties, they are not a barrier to you getting the support you need. I also specialise in providing psychodynamic counselling to people from diverse cultural backgrounds and people who have fled from oppression and violence. I am fluent in English and Arabic.

Counselling can be arranged to provide short, time-limited focused sessions as well as long-term sessions for a deeper exploration of key issues and healing over time, at a pace that is comfortable for you. I offer 50-minute weekly counselling sessions, which can take place in person at the Natural Health Centre in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire, or online.

I am a fully qualified Psychodynamic Counsellor, Dip. Psych Couns, Reg. MBACP and am a registered Member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and I am committed to offering a professional and ethical service.

What to Expect

My aim as your counsellor is to facilitate the development of a therapeutic relationship that provides the opportunity for a growth process, inherent in you, to achieve change.

I believe that this relationship between the therapist and the client is key to a successful outcome achieved by establishing an effective counselling experience. I'm interested in hearing about your journey in life, including childhood relationships and important events that have shaped you. I am good at listening attentively and respectfully, shining the light on the strengths and resources you have inside you I may be able to help you reevaluate your situation and explore possible ways forward that can help you gain clarity and awareness.

My work focuses on the development of the individual; thereby fostering a sense of self-worth, identity and self-esteem. I have worked with adults of all ages and from all walks of life who have brought many kinds of issues. Additionally, I have considerable experience working with young adults and adolescents, covering a wide range of issues including anxiety, self-harm, self-esteem/identity, sexual orientation, depression, anger management, and relationships.

Why Counselling?

Knowing ourselves is powerful. It gives us an insight into why we tend to respond and behave in the way we do in specific circumstances. It is also a solid step towards understanding more and reacting better to other people and situations with a clear mind, knowledge of what we want and a sense of our own resilience.
