I didn't become an Osteopath just because I have a love of backs! I started doing this - and continue to enjoy it so much - because I love how the body has the ability to self-correct... with a little from Osteopathy!
I qualified from the European School of Osteopathy in 1977. I then worked in London, Bristol and Stroud before starting the practice in Nailsworth.
I have been involved in teaching Osteopathy in the cranial field for many years. I was involved in the Osteopathic Centre for Children in London from 1991–96 and then established the Bristol Children’s Osteopathic Clinic. I now work with both adults and children in Stroud and Nailsworth.
I have had a long standing interest in movement and have made a particular study of the development of movement in children with Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen in the US.
Cranial Osteopathy is a form of Osteopathy that works in a gentle, subtle yet precise way to restore the normal structure, function and self-healing capacity of the body as a whole.
We work from an anatomical and physiological model and will make a diagnosis as to the probable cause of your symptoms.
The effects of injuries, trauma, stress, poor postural habits or problematic birth can all cause structural patterns or misalignments and pain in the spine, or extremities, or dysfunctions such as headaches or digestive issues.
We work with various techniques, but only very rarely manipulation, to bring your body back to improved healthy function.
