Hypnotherapy is a safe, reliable way to help you with many issues you’re finding hard to deal with on your own - thoughts and actions you'd like to banish or acquire, or emotional distress that is too overwhelming or has gone on too long. Examples include stress, feelings of depression, anxiety, phobias, fears, OCD, smoking cessation, coping with emotional, and sometimes even physical pain (e.g. Hypnobirthing).

The type of hypnotherapy I offer is a very powerful combination of Psychotherapy and Hypnosis, also referred to as ‘Solution Focused Hypnotherapy’.

As the name suggests this therapy focuses on solutions for the future and encourages you to think about how you want things to be, rather than focusing on and analysing problems of the past and the reasons why you are feeling a certain way or have a certain fear or anxiety.
Once you have a clear picture of your preferred future, provided it is realistic, through the application of hypnosis, your subconscious mind will help you find ways to make that future your reality.

Hypnosis itself is simply a state of focused attention. In this relaxed state, your mind is more responsive to suggestion. In a therapeutic setting, the suggestions are designed to be beneficial to help you change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviour. Clients often comment about how 'ordinary' Hypnosis feels; it's not unlike daydreaming and you can often hear everything that is being said whilst in a deeply relaxed state. In fact, you could think of it as guided daydreaming.

Contrary to the image portrayed in films, books and the media, hypnosis does not involve the therapist taking control of your mind - no one can hypnotise you against your will. Nobody can make you do anything you do not want to; your subconscious mind will simply reject any suggestion that is inappropriate for you.

Initial consultations last around 45 minutes and are designed to assess what you want to achieve, how hypnotherapy can help you, and how many sessions you are likely to need.

Subsequent sessions: In the first part we will discuss the progress you have made. Here you are encouraged to express yourself positively whilst being guided towards identifying an ever clearer picture of your preferred future. I'll then guide you into a relaxed state of hypnosis so that we can consolidate what we have discussed.

Changes Welcome Hypnotherapy was founded by Liane Ulbricht-Kazan in 2012. She now practises alongside Sam Little at various locations around Bristol and Gloucestershire. The approach they use is to combine Hypnosis with Psychotherapy drawing on the latest research as well as techniques such as Ericksonian Hypnotherapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming. Their goal is to help people get over the problems, issues, and limitations, which are holding them back, to get them the best deal possible out of life, within the shortest amount of time.
